Chapter 4 : Tension
The sky was dark, accompanied by the sound of thunder, and lightning tore through the sky like a silver snake crossing the horizon.
In an instant, it was as bright as day. Torrential rain poured down, and the flowers and grass bowed under the majesty of the strong wind. The defiant trees had their branches broken.
The roses in the greenhouse held their heads high, vibrant and noble. This was a French-style detached villa standing in the storm, providing a comfortable space for the roses.
Everything was so beautiful, and William was sleeping soundly on the soft big bed.
Suddenly, the urgent knocking on the door pierced his eardrums, rudely waking his sleeping brain.
William closed his sore eyes and wrapped his head in the blanket, trying to block out the annoying knocking.
"Mr. Warburg, it''s time to get up."
The person outside the door was relentless, even more annoying than an alarm clock.
With a bad temper upon waking, William squinted his sore eyes, put on his slippers, and angrily opened the door: "What is it?"
William''s expression was so fierce that the person outside the door stammered, "Mr. Warburg, Mr. Schwab said... said... said to wake you up."
William squinted his eyes into a slit, sneered, and then slammed the door shut.
Everything was done decisively, without any hesitation.
He locked the door, took advantage of his drowsiness, and went back to bed to continue sleeping.
He slept until he woke up naturally, feeling so comfortable that every pore was relaxed, and his mood improved.
William reached for his phone under the pillow and saw that it was already two o''clock in the afternoon.
He stretched lazily, picked up the water cup on the bedside table, took a sip of water, and went downstairs in his pajamas and slippers.
At a glance, he didn''t see the early-to-bed, early-to-rise, healthy Seth, but he did see Lucas on the sofa.
Lucas was wearing a light blue checkered T-shirt, with the sleeves loosely rolled up, revealing his wrist bones, looking both elegant and sexy.
In his arms lay a long-haired golden cat, fat and round, curled up into a ball.
Unexpectedly, Lucas liked cats.
Sensing the gaze, Lucas glanced at William from a distance and then lowered his head to pet the cat.
His slender fingers brushed through the long fur, making the cat purr comfortably, its glassy round yellow-green eyes looking very obedient and cute.
William headed straight for the kitchen and came out in less than a minute. He drooped his eyelids and looked down at Lucas: "Where''s my snack cabinet?"
William was used to being carefree. Unless he had to go to school, he would always sleep until he woke up naturally.
Dora had a son in elementary school to take care of, so apart from preparing three meals a day, she wasn''t at The Warburg Family.
To avoid troubling Dora, William usually took care of himself. For instance, he would eat some instant noodles.
But now his snack cabinet had been removed, and he couldn''t eat.
"I had someone throw it all away," Lucas said calmly, as if he had just casually thrown away a bag of trash, insignificant.
"What gives you the right to touch my stuff?" William glared at the man on the sofa, asking fiercely.
Lucas looked up, "Eating instant noodles often is bad for your health."
"It''s not you eating it, so why do you care if it''s healthy or not? You really think you''re part of The Warburg Family. My dad may recognize you, but I don''t. Don''t be a busybody."
William said, kicking the kitchen door hard, "I''m warning you, return my stuff immediately, exactly as it was."
Faced with William''s threat, Lucas remained calm. He focused on petting the cat, as if he hadn''t heard William at all.
Lucas''s demeanor only infuriated William more. No one had ever ignored him so completely.
"Did you fucking hear me?" William stood in front of Lucas, demanding.
Lucas finally reacted. He extended his smooth, slender index finger and gently tapped the cat''s head.
The cat seemed to understand and immediately jumped to the floor, walking away with its fluffy tail raised.
Lucas brushed off the cat hair on him and stood up slowly.
His tall figure exuded male hormones. Even though he was just a Beta, he was more imposing than any Alpha William had ever seen.
Lucas said, "I''m sorry, but all your junk food has been disposed of. I can''t return it to you as it was."
Lucas smiled and continued, "There''s one more thing I forgot to tell you. From now on, I''ll be in charge of all your meals, clothing, housing, and transportation."
Hearing this, William suddenly remembered that last night, Seth said he was going on a business trip for a long time and wasn''t taking Lucas with him.
Well, with the old man gone, dealing with Lucas wouldn''t require holding back.
William sneered and mocked, "What, are you going to be my nanny?"
Lucas didn''t mind William''s sarcasm, "If that''s how you want to see it, that''s fine."
It felt like punching cotton, completely unsatisfying.
But William wouldn''t give up so easily.
William, acting like a lord, said, "Since you''re the nanny, you should do your job. I''m starving, go make me some food."
Lucas: "You missed the meal time, wait until the afternoon."
"Huh," William snorted coldly, "Sorry, but now is my meal time. You just started, so you didn''t know, but remember it from now on."
The little brat didn''t know his place, so arrogant. Lucas sneered, "Then I''m sorry to tell you, you''ll eat when I eat."
"Got it? Young Master Warburg."
"I think you got up too early and your brain isn''t clear, you''re not clear about your position," William said, pointing to his forehead.
Lucas said slowly, "It''s natural for the younger generation to obey the elders."
"Elders?"
"You think you deserve that title!!!"
"If it weren''t for climbing into my dad''s bed, you wouldn''t be anything."
Lucas was indifferent, "So what?"
William cursed under his breath, "Truly despicable."
Hearing this, Lucas''s calm eyes flickered, and his expression turned cold.
William continued to provoke, "What? Dare to do it but not let people talk about it!"
Lucas gave him a cold glance and turned to leave.
He was afraid that if he stayed any longer, he wouldn''t be able to resist breaking William''s neck.
Seeing Lucas leave in anger, William felt extremely pleased.
Little did he know, the hellish life was officially beginning.
The rain outside continued from morning till night, showing no signs of stopping. William didn''t want to go out either, so he stayed in the villa with Lucas.
"Grumble~ Grumble~ Grumble~ Grumble~ Grumble~ Grumble~ Grumble~ Grumble~" His stomach growled loudly.
William was starving and started eating the fruits from the fruit platter. His stomach stopped growling, but his mouth felt bland and tasteless, utterly uninteresting.
He couldn''t cook, so he had to go upstairs and wait for Dora to come back and make dinner.
He checked his phone, it showed 3 PM, three hours until dinner time.
